Bailey’s Batman Podcast Episode 8 – 1989 Batman Film Commentary
Grab some liquid refreshment, pop some popcorn, load up the DVD and turn down the lights, folks! It’s time for Bailey’s Batman Podcast’s very first movie commentary! That’s right this week I sat down and blabbed on for over two hours as I watched the 1989 Tim Burton classic…Batman. This was an interesting experiment because I have never done a solo commentary before and as usual what I planned to talk about and what I actually ended up talking about turned out to be two different things. The commentary is completely off the cuff with no notes and no editing because, well, you can’t edit once the movie starts, so this is about as raw as you can get podcasting wise. Be sure to write in and let me know what you think of the commentary as I was planning on doing more of these with the other Batman movies and was curious if there was interest from you the listeners for such episodes.
During the preamble of this episode I mention that back in 2008 the Irredeemable Shag and I did a little thing called Bat Week for one of my other podcasts Views From The Longbox. Bailey’s Batman Podcast Episode #7
And the show is back!
That’s right, folks, after nearly ten months Bailey’s Batman Podcast has returned with new episodes, a new format and a new release schedule. Well, new episodes and a new format at least. The show will (probably) be weekly for the next month or so until it settles in to the new release schedule. Anyway, this time out I break down why I have been gone, the pitfalls of doing an index style show, my changing thoughts on Batman and I pimp the hell out of some other podcasts. After a break and a quick word from Bat-Mite that I think adequately reflects my current thinking on the Dark Knight I level set the e-mails and while you can’t hear it on the show start to get really nervous about the changes I have made to this podcast. I even sing, which was just inevitable really.

This time out I’m covering the Batman titles that came out with a July 1983 cover date. InBatman #361 the Man-Bat story wraps up and we learn that Jason Todd’s reasoning skills leave a little to be desired. We also get the return of someone that will become a major supporting character as well as a major thorn in Commissioner Gordon’s side. Then in Detective Comics #528 that character leads the search for the Savage Skull, who isn’t dead after all. Finally I start my coverage of Batman and the Outsiders with the 16 page preview story from Brave and the Bold #200. Things get wrapped up with Same Bat Time, Different Bat Title and some of your e-mails!
